5 Camping Spots in the UK to Visit When on a Tight Budget

5 Camping Spots in the UK to Visit When on a Tight Budget

Camping on a budget can be tricky, especially if all the adverts you’re seeing are for huge camping locations with plenty of activities onsite and this is all included in the price. At the same time, though, it’s likely you’ll want at least basic facilities such as a shower block and decent toilets. To balance the two, you need to find some camp spots that don’t cost a fortune but still provide the basic amenities you need while you’re away.

Travel around the country with these:

1. The Lawns and Lakes Camping and Caravanning – Lincolnshire

Stay on the outskirts of Spalding from £16 per night for a non-electric grass pitch at this family-friendly camping site that also serves as an excellent gateway site to the rest of Lincolnshire thanks to being near to the A17.

To camp on a budget, the ability to cook your own food on a barbeque rather than eating out can help, and that’s offered here (although there is a café nearby if you’re looking for a decent coffee).

2. Severn Valley Touring Caravan and Camping Site – Gloucestershire

Across the country, you can visit this site near to Newnham-on-Severn for £17 for an electric optional grass pitch. It’s easy to access from the A48 and sits close to notable natural landmarks like the Forest of Dean and the Malvern Hills.

If you’re using a campsite as a base for further travels, you don’t want to spend money on a site with activities and facilities you won’t use, but you do want a quality location to lay your head. This site ticks all the boxes.

3. Providence Inn – North Yorkshire

Pitch up beside this rural pub near Malton to put yourself in range of some major Yorkshire attractions including Castle Howard, Flamingo Land and the North Yorkshire coastal resorts, not to mention the historic city of York itself from just £12 per night.

Perhaps counter-intuitively, pitching next to a hostelry can be a money saver as you’re not travelling elsewhere for drinks, especially useful if there’s a small group of you looking for a cheap and cheerful weekend away in the countryside.

4. Fen Farm Caravan and Camping Site – Essex

Visit this camping site near Colchester and stay in a wildlife haven from £19 per night. One of the major perks of this site for families is the fact that it’s only 5 minutes away from the beach, so there won’t be any lengthy and costly journeys between you and the water.

As a site that caters exclusively to families and couples, you won’t find any of the loud parties you might at other sites, resulting in a peaceful camping experience with plenty of amenities nearby.

5. Orchard Springs Campsite – Cornwall

A thirty-minute walk outside Bodmin, this campsite costs from £14 per night and situates itself as a country retreat, albeit one with luxury shower rooms. It’s a great base from which to explore Cornwall, but it also has plenty of amenities close at hand to ensure you can find things comparatively cheaply.

Choosing a campsite that has the perfect balance of site amenities with nearby ones can often be the key to finding the right location for you, and Orchard Springs fulfils that balance nicely.

Of course, when you are looking for the safe and high quality camping accessories, which are space saving and lightweight, Colapz offers some great alternatives.  Whether it's one of our incredibly popular 2in1 water carrier or the 3in1 portable shower, you can be sure that we've got all eventualities covered here at Colapz.
